NOVEMBER WINE CLUB SELECTIONS

PAYDIRT

2018 RED BLEND

PASO ROBLES, LODI, NAPA VALLEY

Paydirt burst onto the wine scene in 2010 and quickly made a name for themselves with their crowd-pleasing, California-style Reds. The 2018 faultlessly combines 81% old vine Zinfandel with Grenache, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Barbera and Cabernet from top-sites including Dusi in Paso Robles, Bokisch in Lodi, and includes vineyards in Oak Knoll and St. Helena.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is filled with ripe blackberries, smoked plum, orange relish, cranberry, blueberry compote, white pepper and dark chocolate. The palate is round, juicy, and is bursting with freshness and concentrated red and dark fruit components. The finish is persistent, layered and vibrant, with a touch of spice.

THE 5IVE RUSSIANS

2018 NATASHA PINOT NOIR

RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

A family-owned estate established by the Bordinsky family in the Russian River Valley. Their winemaking philosophy is earth-friendly and self-sustaining ensuring the 20-year-old vines are of the highest quality. The vineyard is located in the cool, foggy Russian River Valley. The climate allows for slow ripening, enabling the grapes to develop full flavor maturation over an extended time.

Tasting Notes:

The fruit is hand-harvested and crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques. This includes fermentation in small tanks, manual punch-downs, and aging in French oak barrels. The wine offers aromas of black cherries, violets, and a touch of cinnamon combined with subtle notes of French oak and cola. This pinot is silky smooth with a supple finish that glides across the palate. Excellent with poultry, pork, beef, pizza, and…

DOUBLE EAGLE

2016 RED WINE BLEND

NAPA VALLEY

Double Eagle combines two passions of David Grieve and Vance Rose; it is the rarest of golf shots and it is also their evocative Bordeaux blend. Double Eagle is produced from Merlot grapes grown in the Grieve Family Vineyard in Lovall Valley, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in other areas of Napa Valley.

Tasting Notes:

An homage to a stellar vintage, our 2016 Double Eagle Red is a classic Bordeaux blend culled from premier valley-floor vineyards in Oakville and St. Helena. It opens with intense aromatics of bramble berry and currant, nuanced by notes of vanilla and oak spice from 20 months in French oak barrels.  The round, voluptuous palate echoes the nose with layers of saturated dark fruit, focused by a fine tannin tension that persists on the long, elegant finish.

GRIEVE ESTATE WINES

2018 GRIEVE FAMILY ESTATE SAUVIGNON BLANC

NAPA VALLEY

Lovall Valley is one of Napa’s coolest and most remote growing regions, and home to the Grieve Family Estate Vineyard. Site-specific, organic farming works in concert with the area’s uniquely cool microclimate to produce Grieve Family wines of profound richness, structure, and site expression.

Tasting Notes:

Mouth-filling richness, deft balance, and seamless integration are the hallmarks of Grieve Family Estate Sauvignon Blanc. The near-perfect 2018 growing season promoted an incredibly vivid core of melon and stone fruit buoyed by bright acidity and finessed by a lilting, wet stone impression that lingers on the long, refreshing finish.

BON ANNO

2019 CHARDONNAY

LOS CARNEROS

Founded in 2004, by a third-generation wine seller, BonAnno Vintners is driven by a passion for producing fruit-focused wines that pair well with foods, are varietally correct, and deliver great value. Not only the last name of the family, BonAnno means “good year” in Italian and heralds the celebration of good times.

Tasting Notes:

Medium-straw in color and bursting with white flowers, apple blossom, and fresh peach on the nose. The palate is layered with ripe lemon, crisp green apple, and white peaches. The finish is clean yet long with the slightest hints of vanilla and fresh brioche.

ARRIVED

2019 CLAIRETTE BIANCHE & GRENACHE BLANCHE

Willow Creek District, Paso Robles

Whole cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel. Aged 9 months in neutral French oak.

Tasting Notes:

Gravenstein apple, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemon zest, Asian pear, and a core of minerality that continues to develop in the glass. Lifted, concentrated, showing a bright purity of fruit. Succulent. Balanced. Refreshing.
